Emirates Baggage Allowance: Things You Should Know Before Travel

Emirates is widely regarded as the world’s largest airline. It operates 3,600 weekly flights to over 157 destinations across 80 countries on 6 continents and uses Dubai International Airport as its main hub. Emirates allows travelers to take 4 suitcases with them on their flights unlike most airlines.

The baggage allowance of Emirates depends on the destination, the flight west of connection and ticket fare. The free baggage is usually based on either allowed weight or number of pieces.

Emirates Cabin Baggage Allowance:

Economy class passengers can carry one piece of luggage with a weight limit of 7 kilograms to 10 kilograms of luggage on board. The carry-on baggage allowance for Business class passengers varies depending on the amount of weight they are allowed to have at check in.

Emirates flights have set sizes for different categories of bags. Carry-on size is 45x35x20cm (length x width x height), which does not exceed certain dimensions, and a carry-on hand bag is 55x38x20cm (length x width x height). If the bag has seams, the seam should not go more than 20cm from the folded edge.

Buy Extra Baggage Allowance:

The overweight and oversized baggage fees at Emirates are quite high. Fortunately, you can save a lot if you purchase an extra baggage allowance before your flight over the internet or in person at the airport. Extra baggage allowance is surprisingly much less expensive than overweight and oversized fees; you’ll save even more if you buy one online in advance.

The free baggage allowance of Emirates is calculated by the weight or number of bags, with each bag carrying a different weight as a “piece.” If your flight applies the weight concept, you need to purchase additional bags. For example, if you’ve purchased six pieces with each bag weighing 20 lbs, you’ll have bought 40 lbs of luggage total.
