Indian Airlines was established on June 15, 1953, and on 1st August 1953, they had started its operations. Under the federal Union Ministry of Civil Aviation India’s state-owned primarily domestic airline is Indian Airlines which is based in New Delhi. Its main bases are Chennai International Airport, Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, and Indhira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
Indian Airlines offers 35000 seats per day and flies to 64 domestic and 16 international destinations. The Government of India has fully owned it and employs around 19,600 employees. Its annual turnover, together with that of its subsidiary Alliance Air, is well over Rs 4000 crore. Indian Airlines carries a total of over 7.5 million passengers annually, together with its subsidiary Alliance Air.
A collaboration with Amadeus and IBM for online ticket reservation services has been announced by the State-owned Indian Airlines company. services offered by Indian Airlines are as follows
- Door-to-door: For “service-sensitive” customers, it offers domestic door-to-door services. These services are just a phone call away. Unique money-back service even it gives hard copy “proof of delivery” to customers.
- Airport-to-airport: guaranteed delivery within 24 hours For the “time-sensitive” shippers, the Express Cargo facility, is also available. This domestic service gives the flexibility of building up unique customized services For freight forwarders.
- Courier on board: Couriers can avail of special courier on-board schemes on select domestic flights along with special market rates. Immediately on arrival Courier bags are delivered on the conveyer belt.
